asyraf is more alert and more aware. he remembers songs, characters, things. asyraf recognises our car and would jump and scream when we pull up in the daycare's driveway.

he used to play by himself and is able to entertain himself, but now he loves a audience. asyraf loves following and immitating amir, especially the tone which amir uses to speak. he then would get all embarassed when he realises we are watching.

asyraf still cant utter a proper word. the only clear word he says is "nak..." he cant even say tak nak, or nanak, mummy, daddy, susu...nothing...

this boy loves to run. he runs everywhere, he doesnt want. asyraf is very brave, he would run the moment he steps off the car, he would jump head first down the bed, he would climb on tables and chairs.

asyraf has got penyakit geram. he loves to hug and kiss ariff. he wants to carry ariff and would go on all fours to kiss ariff who is crawling.

asyraf is a good food taster. he would eat anything and everything. having to live on plain nestum for the first year of his life, he now wants to taste everything he's been missing. his favourite food at the moment is banana (or nanana as he would call it). he can eat 3-4 banana at one sitting.

he's still a handful when we go out. because of that, we try to limit the number of times we go out and limit the time we spend outside.

while amir was loud in a kecoh manner, asyraf is loud and very garang. he gets angry when disturbed, he would growl out loud, raise his hand, scratch and even prepare to bite. asyraf doesnt take it lying down, he would give it back. big or small his opponent doesnt matter in the least to him, he just wants to give it his all.

having said that, asyraf is very gentle with ariff. he knows to talk softly, to touch softly, to take things from ariff gently. he loves playing peekaboo with ariff. he would even sing and clap his hands with ariff. i think they'll be quite close.

asyraf knows to salam now. he would take one hand into his two small ones and bring the hand to his face. sometimes he would even kiss the hand - the way he kisses, which is with his mouth in an O-shape.

asyraf also knows to raise both hands in a doa gesture. i'm not sure if he actually knows it or it was a one of similar thing. i'm sure he's seen the older kids reciting doa before eating at school and would have picked the action up.

asyraf naps once a day now. but he takes a very, very long nap. up to 6 hours at times. but he's very consistent with his bedtime and is slowly enjoying waking up late. he's sleeping past 7am nowadays.

he hasnt woken up at night for a few months but he still searches for his bottle at night. he would whine and his hand would work overtime until he finds his bottle and put it in his mouth. he gets very excited when he sees a bottle, preparing himself on a pillow. but if the bottle is for ariff, he would scream and scream until he too gets his bottle.

he's drinking more water than formula now. we only make 3 scoops to his 9oz warm water. we'll bring the formula down to only 2 scoops when he hits 18 months, then slowly try to wean him off the bottle and eventually formula for good. i think it'll be a bit difficult with asyraf, especially when ariff is still bottle-fed.

asyraf loves the ball. he can play a 1-2 with hubby, he can dribble and he can run after a ball. its wonderful seeing him running with amir in the yard. of course, they only run for a while, then it'll be a wrestling session over the bicycle.

asyraf is showing more and more of his personality. some we already predicted, some caught us by surprise.

we already know asyraf would be someone who is very curious, very detailed, very difficult. asyraf loves to play on his own. while abang long wants daddy and mummy to join him (by calling out to us, narrating what he's doing to us), asyraf prefers to play quietly in the corner. he's also very determined, i noticed that last night. he has a baby tad which has 6 shapes on the tummy, each with different song. he only like one song and would continously push the particular shape until the song he likes appears.

asyraf also likes things he's familiar with. he plays with the same thing everyday, the imaginarium. give him something new, he looks at it, and turn around to look for the same toy.

we're slowly decreasing his formula with the same amount of water (9oz) so that he gets used to plain water and can stop milk. we noticed that he's ok with that, so its time we change his formula and start giving him more sippy cups and tumblers.

asyraf has got a temper. when he's angry he would hit, he would bite, sometimes he's so angry he looks down (not look at the person he's angry with) and starts to shake with anger. but he lets go and calms down very fast. and if he's angry, he would throw whatever he's holding.

what we didnt expect is the noise. we thought asyraf was a quiet boy. we were wrong! he talks and mumbles and screams. he has said he's first few words...dada, lights (and points upwards), nak, abang (that's you lah asyraf). he knows a lot of words too...susu, sit down, close, tutup, no, adik, abang long, hush, haaa where?

he still shakes his head. everything is a no to him, even if he wants something. when asked if he wants susu, he would shake his head no, but reaches out his hands.

asyraf runs. he runs everywhere. he never ever walks. he runs from one room to another, he runs to the bathroom for a bath, he runs from abang long, he runs to the stairs, he runs in the shopping mall, he runs in the kitchen, he just runs.

he's grown 11 teeth now. he takes having 3 front teeth from me. he also takes my protruding jaw. braces, here we come...

time flies. when i look back at asyraf's photos and videos taken last year, i cant believe he's grown so much. when he was young, he was really very "young" then all of the sudden, he's grown and matured and able to do so many things.

asyraf now
- has 11 teeth. a weird number, i know, usually teeth grow in pairs. but he's got only 3 bottom teeth. i thought he would grow the 4th but all his 4 molars came out first. i think he's like me...i too have only 3 bottom teeth;
- talks like there's no tomorrow. still gibberish but he seems to know who to direct what he says to;
- is drinking loads...8-9oz at a time. but he drinks less number of times now. he can wait for 2-3 hours before his first bottle and can go to sleep without a feed (although the bottle has to be in his hands);
- doesnt take morning naps anymore, but takes a long lunchtime nap. sometimes he sleeps for 4 hours straight;
- loves music. if we start singing "if you're happy and you know it..." he would clap his hands, if we sing "i love you, you love me" he would sway his body from left to right, it we sing "round around the garden..." he would circle a finger on his open palm;
- loves the imaginarium tiza gave amir. he would play that for hours;
- can show his anger. if he's not happy with abang long, he would scratch and pull amir's clothes. then he would throw himself on the floor and cry out. we hardly go out anymore. we took the boys out to 1utama and asyraf wanted to walk everywhere. as soon as we hold our hand out to him, he would throw a tantrum on the floor;
- understands a few words like no, babab, nak, tak nak, close, tv, abang long, adik;
- doesnt play with drawers anymore after hubby babab-ed him hand. would quickly close drawers if we call out his name;
- doesnt nod, he only shakes his head no to every question we ask him;
- loves climbing. he can climb up and down the sofa, the bed, the changing table, the playpen, the table, the chair;

being a hero

yataaaa...asyraf is way more brave than amir. he used to run to the edge of the stairs, not fearing the height. now he's into climbing...he would climb up the sofa, the bed, the bannister, ariff's bouncing chair...anything...
